About Soumo's Railways RF Blog

Welcome to 'Soumo's Railways' blog. I am a railfan or rail enthusiast based in Howrah, West Bengal, India. I love trains, and I take pictures, occasionally make videos of trains and write about trains here in this blog. I am not an expert about trains but I enjoy being a hobby writer and an amateur hobby photographer.

This blog is spread across YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Blogger (this one) and Instagram. My blog is all about trainspotting (and some travel) on the Indian Railways network.  Home stations and home zones of this blog are: SRC-Santragachi, SHM-Shalimar and PDPK-Padmapukur of South Eastern Railway; HWH-Howrah of Eastern Railway.

It won't be wrong to say that I have grown up seeing trains. The SHM-Shalimar and PDPK-Padmapukur Railway Stations of SER lies just at a walking distance from my home. However this blog was planned and started only sometime earlier in January 2017.

The idea of a railfanning blog came one day after a morning walk to the Shalimar Railway station [of South Eastern Railway Zone (SER) of Indian Railways] which is very near to my home. BTW I am a regular morning walker and almost everyday I end up at the Shalimar and Padmapukur Railway stations.

The thing which started as a casual video upload on YouTube taken during a morning walk has become a hobby now. I am a frequent traveller due to my work and I have to travel by trains very often. While this supports my hobby, it is also very much fuelled by other friends who are equally enthusiastic railfans, active especially on social media like on Facebook or on YouTube.

This is a 'not for profit' and a hobby recreational blog and is not affiliated to the Indian Railways. As required by rules of IR, all the posts made are for information or not-profit entertainment purpose. The media that appears here or at the connected social media accounts (see below) are to be considered as not-for-profit and thus not available for sale or re-use.

As stated above, this blog can be followed across social media platforms as on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Blogger and Instagram.
