Wintery Morning Spotting Of VSKP WAP4 & PURI - SHM Weekly SF Express

The late November train spotting updates continues here on the blog, and I still have quite a few updates to share which I have put on the pipeline. On this recent railfanning session at PDPK-Padmapukur on November 29th, I spotted a lovely VSKP - Visakhapatnam WAP4 (no. 25008 - fancy numbered) which brought in the 22836 Puri Shalimar Weekly Express towards Shalimar railway station.

WAP4 of the Visakhapatnam loco shed is the normal loco link for this train and I can say that VSKP WAP4s are regular visitors to this area, especially with this train. on the right, find a picture taken (actually a video screenshot) of the train waiting as a SRC WAP4 which earlier that morning brought in the 22214 Patna Shalimar Duronto Express was slowly leaving towards the loco shed. It was so nice to spot the train anyway. This is one of our favourite trains to travel between Puri and Shalimar. So far we have positive experience in travelling on this train. In fact we have a reservation on this train later in January next year (2018). Though this is quite a popular train, I have observed that it comes much empty to Shalimar, as most passengers get off at Santragachi station which provides better connectivity to Kolkata and other areas than Shalimar which is still upgrading its facilities. BTW infrastructure upgrade at Shalimar seems quite impressive and it deserves a special blog post which I plan to do later on.

22835 Shalimar Puri Weekly SF Express departs later same day evening (Wednesday) around 2055 hrs and reaches PURI the next morning on 0540 hrs. It touches SRC-Santragachi, KGP-Kharagpur, BLDA-Belda, BLS-Balasore, BHC-Bhadrak, JJKR-Jajpur Keonjhar Road, CTC-Cuttack, BBS- Bhubaneswar, KUR-Khurda Road and PURI-Puri. While you watch this video, do note the beautiful bird songs at the start of the video. And also don't miss the shattered side-window glass of the loco.
