Truly it was a sudden busy scene at SHM-Shalimar. There were so many locomotives, passing trains and activity spotted in a short while, and luckily I was able to capture all those in a single video that I have uploaded on YouTube.
Firstly I was expecting the 12885 Aranyak Express as usual. I was quite surprised to find a Kanpur WAG7 for today's Aranyak Express. However I was standing at the station area for over one hour before this train left the station, but I did not spot the loco coming in - which usually arrives about roughly 30 minutes before the departure of the train. I waited and spotted the 22836 Puri Shalimar SF Express on which my father was coming from Bhubaneswar. Do read my previous post on this topic here. I was quite happy being greeted by the Loco Pilot of the 22836, which was a TATA WAM4.
While I was ready to spot the Aranyak Express with my camera, the KGP WDS6 shunter tried a forceful guest appearance in the video. When luckily it passed away shortly (glad it was not shunting a bigger train or box wagons- otherwise I'd have missed the whole thing), I could film the Aranyak Express. The whole train in a single frame was a delight. I spot the Aranyak Express quite regularly. Mainly because this train gets so many kind of different locomotives which is a train spotters delight. You can read all my post about spotting the Aranyak Express here. When 12885 left the station, it was turn of the TATA WAM4, which wanted to leave after serving the 22836 Puri Shalimar SF Express on the previous night travelling almost about 500+ kilometers from Puri in Odisha to Shalimar in West Bengal. The loco was escorted for a while by another WDS6 shunter which stopped and the WAM4 left slowly afterwards.
You can watch the entire video of all these actions at the video link/ thumbnail below:
